Otis Redding, the great soul singer and Stax's most enduring star. His brief career, tragically cut short at the age of 27 by a plane crash, was defined by deeply felt performances and recordings, and his legacy includes such self-penned hits as "Respect," "I've Been Loving ... moreYou Too Long," "I Can't Turn You Loose," "Hard to Handle," "Mr. Pitiful" and his posthumous #1 hit, "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay."
