Lone Star

Elizabeth Peña: Peña was poised for stardom from an early age, as her parents of Cuban descent launched the successful New York theater troupe Latin American Theatre Ensemble. She first gained notice in "Down and Out in Beverly Hills" and soon was getting raves for performances... more in films like "La Bamba" and "Lone Star." She's largely declined to play Latin stereotypes, saying, "There are a lot of jobs I've turned down because they wanted me to play what I call 'Miss Cuchifrito' types."
