In the Heat of the Night

Sidney Poitier / Sydney Poitier: The Oscar-winning actor forged new ground in the civil-rights era and with fierce performances in films such as "Lilies of the Field," "To Sir, With Love" and "In the Heat of the Night," with some notable side ventures into directing ("Stir Crazy... more"), and, having just turned 80, has continued to work. Meanwhile, his lovely daughter and namesake, Sydney, began a strong TV acting career, notably as a recurring character on "Veronica Mars." She recently splashed onto the big screen in Quentin Tarantino's "Grindhouse" and more will surely follow.
