Ice Age: Continental Drift

Will "Continental Drift" continue this exponentially high growth pattern? It's tough to say.

One of the reasons "Dawn of the Dinosaurs" was so successful was that it came at the beginning of the 3-D wave, a time when paying extra for funny glasses seemed like an innovation instead ... more of a penalty. In the three years since, audiences have tired of the premium, which could lead to a smaller turnout this time around. At least on the 3-D front.

Marketing for the film has played up the pirate aspect, because, thanks to Johnny Depp, kids love pirates now. Apparently those same kids have never read a Somalian newspaper; otherwise, they'd steer clear of the high seas.

Now that Manny and Sid have families, this time around Diego will get a love interest. Jennifer Lopez will provide her voice. If she can save "American Idol," she can certainly keep "Ice Age" afloat.
