Earle Hagen, May 26, age 88: One of TV's most prolific theme song composers, Hagen not only wrote the impossibly catchy tune for "The Andy Griffith Show," he also whistled it himself on the show's soundtrack. Hagen also composed themes for shows like "The Mod Squad," "Gomer Pyle... more," "The Dick Van Dyke Show," and "I Spy," for which he won an Emmy. He also wrote a book on composing, as well as a deft memoir in 2000.
