"Howard the Duck" (1986)
Though George Lucas didn't direct this howling flail of a
cult comic adaptation, he was a producer, so he deserves at least a little bit
of the credit/blame. "Howard the Duck" was a strange Marvel comic book in the
'70s, and mostly forgotten by the '80s.
... more Those who did remember ol' Howard were
fondest of his dirty mouth, his coarse libido, his omnipresent cigar. It goes
without saying, then, that the Hollywood version of this duck would be cute,
slightly naughty but basically innocuous, and a nonsmoker. Lea Thompson and Tim Robbins both appear to understand that the movie
they're in is a huge joke, but no one else does. Except for the audiences who
couldn't be bothered to see it. They tried to sell it as a kids movie. Kids are
smarter than that. (Universal Pictures / Courtesy Everett
