Gerard Butler has finally passed the phase of
viewers internally screaming, "This is Sparta!" whenever they see him
on-screen. Nevertheless, it was his role as the valiant Greek King Leonidas
in "300" that made him a household name. Though the
hunky Scotsman had appeared in a ... morefew other movies before his lung-screaming,
head-chopping, Persian-fighting performance (most notably "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life,"
opposite Angelina Jolie, and "Timeline"), it was "300" that nearly made him
an icon. "P.S. I Love You," a flaccid romance with Hilary Swank, was a tepid follow-up to such a
monumental action hit, but Butler has further impressed with the family picture
"Nim's Island" and Guy Ritchie's "RocknRolla." He was rumored to be reprising Kurt Russell's role in a remake of "Escape From New York." Close
