kudos at the Cannes Film Festival, although only the song ("I've Seen It All")
she wrote for the film received any recognition from Oscar. New York Times
critic A.O. Scott expressed a decidedly conflicted response to "Dancer": "The
movie is both stupefyingly bad and utterly overpowering ... It can elicit,
sometimes within a single scene, a gasp of rapture and a spasm of revulsion."
Not a bad description of the Hollywood press corps' reaction to Björk's
appearance on the red carpet, attired in swooning white swan and tutu. Then, to
compound journalistic bemusement, a large, cream-colored egg, sculpted by
Björk's boyfriend Matthew Barney ("Cremaster") popped out from under the
actress' poofy skirt and dropped to the carpet. "They didn't get it," said
Björk. "They actually thought I was trying to look like Jennifer Aniston and got it wrong." Say what? (Daniel A.
