(Note: This review refers to the Blu-ray version of the DVD.)

"Come with me and you'll be in a world of pure imagination." Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have tried their hand at adapting Roald Dahl's children's fantasy, but they can't top Gene Wilder as the weird, wonderful, slightly sinister candy bar king who invites five children into his factory kingdom in the 1971 original. It's a wonder of a film with bouncy, silly songs and art design in candy colors, and its innocence and strangeness is just as entrancing today. The Blu-ray debut features the supplements of the original DVD (including a reunion commentary track with all five grown-up kids and the retrospective featurette "Pure Imagination") in a booklet case with a 38-page book of stills, bios and song lyrics.
