Tin Toy

Trace the development of Pixar's brand of computer animation with this collection of 13 shorts, from their earliest films "The Adventures of Andre & Wally B." (1984) and "Luxo Jr." (1986) to their latest, "Lifted" (2006), another of their many Oscar nominated shorts. Pixar co-founder John Lasseter directed many of these early showcases for computer animation and won Pixar's first Academy Award with "Tin Toy" (1989), which could be something of a rough draft for "Toy Story." The collection includes Academy Award nominated shorts "Mike's New Car" (2002), "Boundin'" (2003) and "One Man Band" (2005), Oscar winners "Geri's Game" (1997) and "For the Birds" (2000) and "Knick Knack" (1989), featuring the music of Bobby McFerrin. Lasseter and company changed the face of American animation with their work, and it all began in the early shorts on the disc. Also features commentary on select shorts, the featurette "The Pixar Shorts: A Short History" with Lasseter, animation tests and other supplements.
