The Toe Tactic

Animator Emily Hubley doodles in the margins of her lighthearted American indie romantic about a young woman (Lily Rabe) whose life becomes entwined with eccentric strangers. Maybe it's the playful machinations of animated characters playing a whimsical game with the humans, or it could just be her imagination working overtime. It's sweet and slight, a little ditty about the difficulties of communicating and connecting in the cold world, with a warm ending and a nice score by Yo La Tengo. Features three short films by Hubley, deleted scenes and storyboards among the supplements.
