The Strangers

A romantic evening becomes a night of terror for sweethearts Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman when a late-night knock on the door at a secluded vacation home ushers in a home invasion by masked strangers whose motivations remain vague. It's ostensibly inspired by true events, though the actual inspiration is itself rather vague. Variety critic Dennis Harvey describes it as an "effectively stripped-down thriller" and "efficiently nerve-jangling," but that "the resolution is rather flat." The DVD features both the original theatrical version and an unrated cut that runs just a couple of minutes longer, as well as deleted scenes and the making-of featurette "The Elements of Terror." Also available on Blu-ray.
