Starring: DVD Review Edward Zwick's drama of an America under terrorist assault, where civil rights are suspended and Arab-Americans are imprisoned in internment camps without cause, was made years before the attacks of Sept. 11 and the real-life powers of the Patriotic Act. Denzel Washington (who won his first Oscar for Zwick's "Glory") stars as the investigating FBI agent who soon clashes with a general (Bruce Willis) who takes charge with unchecked arrogance after martial law is declared. Annette Bening and Tony Shalhoub co-star. It was more provocative than profound, with a self-importance that swamps the crisp professionalism of the tense opening, but it was more prescient than most people realized even after the attacks on the Twin Towers, which is reason enough for a new special-edition release. This disc features filmmaker commentary and a trio of featurettes on the making of the film. | ||||||||||||||
