Leonardo DiCaprio co-writes, co-produces and narrates this intelligent documentary about the destruction of the environment and the solutions that can save it. Climate change is just one symptom of global disease that includes deforestation, air pollution, soil degradation, toxins in the oceans and aquifers, and the rapid extinction of species. The essential message is not new, but the film backs it up with a wealth of compelling evidence and arguments (even considering a few dubious witnesses). It simply lacks the cinematic punch to the psyche to bring the points home with the same effectiveness as Michael Moore's films or Al Gore in "An Inconvenient Truth." The intelligent and provocative meeting of minds is nonetheless compelling and disturbing. The disc is packaged in a 100 percent certified renewable paperboard slip-sleeve and features more than an hour of bonus featurettes following up on the ideas explored in the documentary. | |||||||||||||||
