Swing Vote

Kevin Costner embodies Joe Six Pack in this political fantasy about a presidential election that (somewhat implausibly) hinges on a single vote. Because of a glitch in the system, that vote needs to be recast, and this time it's under the full scrutiny of the national media, much to the chagrin of his young daughter (Madeline Carroll). Kelsey Grammer and Dennis Hopper co-star as the rival candidates who swoop down to woo the undecided voter, who is the very model of parental irresponsibility and civic apathy. Variety critic Justin Chang writes that the film is, "Graced with a gently cynical spirit and more brains than its average-Joe protagonist" and "applies a pleasing Frank Capra-esque glaze to the fanciful story ..." Features commentary by writer/director Joshua Michael Stern and co-writer Jason Richman, deleted and extended scenes (with optional commentary), and the featurette "Inside the Campaign: The Politics of Production."
