Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies (Note: This review refers to the Blu-ray version of the DVD.) Twenty-five years after its screen debut, "Stop Making Sense" is the same as it ever was: one of the definitive concert movies of all time. Jonathan Demme captures a Talking Heads concert by recreating the experience, a performance created piece by piece from a bare stage as the band members slowly take to the stage and create their own simple, eccentric imagery to match the music. Demme matches the rhythms of the show and the energy of the performance with a film that balances intimacy with elegance and always serves the experience. Features three bonus songs not in the theatrical release, commentary by Demme and all four band members, a self interview by David Byrne and storyboard-to-scene comparisons among the supplements, plus a never-before-seen press conference with the band filmed in 1999. | ||||||||||||||
