R,1hr 39min Released: September 24, 2004 Directors: Distributor: Focus Features Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies (Note: This review refers to the Blu-ray version of the DVD.) The two collaborations between director Edgar Wright and co-writer/star Simon Pegg go high-def this week. "Shaun of the Dead" plays like a Brit-com reworking of George Romero's zombie films, not so much a spoof as an ingenious twist on a familiar genre, part deadpan farce and part bloody slapstick spectacle. "Hot Fuzz" parodies both armed-and-dangerous buddy cop films and Britain's cottage industry of cozy murder mysteries in picaresque rural villages. Both are hysterically funny and packed with the supplements of the previous DVD special editions along with exclusive trivia tracks and accessible storyboards. | ||||||||||||||
