Severance

This clever little British horror is set in the midst of a "team-building weekend" for the staff of an international munitions contractor, whose "luxury lodge" is a dump in the middle of a Romanian forest. Who knew it was the Soviet theme-park franchise of the "Hostel" entertainment chain? It's been described -- and pretty spot-on at that -- as "The Office" meets "Deliverance," only the hunters in these woods are living ghosts of ruthless militia units of the Communist past. Director/co-writer Christopher Smith puts an inventive spin on a familiar hunt-and-kill horror genre and fills the edges with sardonic humor and fantasy visions.
