DVD Review
by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies

Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez and Eric Mabius are a team of highly trained super-commandos sent into a high-security facility, where they battle a barrage of defenses to get to ... well, does it really matter in a movie based on a video game? They take on zombies, killer mutant dogs, and a genetically engineered creature that feeds on its victims for fuel. Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, it's less a zombie movie than a big-screen gaming experience set in a secret underground lab turned techno-dungeon. The Anderson scripted sequel, which literally springs from the original's cynical coda, is a straight zombie apocalypse starring Jovovich, the sexy, skimpily dressed sole survivor of the original film, with a satirical undercurrent of unchecked corporate arrogance. No commentary here, but there is an exclusive scene bridging the films to the upcoming "Resident Evil: Extinction," plus other featurettes. The movies are together on one disc, the supplements on a second.
