R,1hr 49min Released: April 13, 2007 Director: Distributor: Sony Pictures Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies Halle Berry plays an investigative reporter with no scruples but a kind of integrity that leads her to quit her job when her paper kills one of her sensationalistic scoops and go freelance to solve the murder of a friend. She goes undercover with two identities, as a flirtatious office temp and a chat room cruiser, and engages in a game of cat-and-mouse with her prime (and only) suspect, a married ad executive (Bruce Willis) with a history of sexual harassment and philandering. MSNBC critic John Hartl calls it "an absurdly convoluted, indifferently acted thriller that dramatizes the opportunities for identity fakery and theft on the Internet." Giovanni Ribisi plays her investigative sidekick, a computer hacker, and James Foley directs the screenplay that (according to Hartl): "offers chat rooms, passwords, compromised security systems and the abstract thrill of climbing the firewall ... in place of action and character development." Includes the featurette "Virtual Lives: The Making of Perfect Stranger." Also available on Blu-ray and PSP formats. | ||||||||||||||
