Exclusive DVD extra: Inside Look

Is it a coincidence that this self-proclaimed comic-book movie reimagining an ancient culture clash arrives on DVD the same week as "300"? This one, a loose remake of the 1987 Norway thriller, pits marauding Vikings against native North Americans in a pre-Columbian invasion. A young Norse boy left behind is raised by the local Indians and grows into actor Karl Urban, who leads the battle against his kinsmen when they return for another raid decades later. All Movie Guide critic Jeremy Wheeler writes: "... while Pathfinder is brilliant to look at, with its stark shadows contrasting the real woodland locations and rich production design, it becomes a complete letdown halfway in and only gets more tedious by the time the poorly executed battle atop a mountain range hits." Marcus Nispel directs, and Moon Bloodgood, Russell Means and Clancy Brown co-star. Available in an R-rated theatrical version and an unrated special edition, both featuring commentary by Nispel and eight deleted scenes (with optional director commentary). The unrated edition also features a five-part making-of documentary and two brief featurettes.
