My Name Is Bruce

Bruce Campbell lampoons his self-effacing image and his B-movie career in his directorial debut, a tongue-in-cheek parody of the cheap creature features he cranks out. In this sloppy and silly horror comedy, he plays an insufferably arrogant and unrepentantly hammy version of himself who takes on a Chinese ghost in a small Oregon town (where the real Campbell lives). Campbell fans will get a kick out of the shameless mugging. The rest of the world will likely find this spoof a little too insular and indulgent. The DVD includes commentary by Campbell and producer Mike Richardson, and the documentary "Heart of Dorkness: The Making of My Name Is Bruce" among its supplements.
