Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies Russian director Sergei Bodrov helms this gorgeous but dramatically skimpy look at the early life of the Mongol warrior who would become Genghis Khan. It's "Genghis Khan: The Early Years," with melodramatic romance and cliffhanger escapes, with serene Japanese star Asano Tadanobu playing the tribal outcast turned thoughtful warrior, a generous leader who returns to Mongolia to take on his enemies and cure his country's ills. If it feels incomplete, it's because it's the first in a proposed trilogy to cover his entire life, and if it feels more like a fable than history, well ... Also available in Blu-ray format. The only supplement for both versions is a digital copy of the film, which can be downloaded to PC, iPod or other compatible players. | ||||||||||||||
