PG13,1hr 23min Genre: Released: January 25, 2008 Directors: Distributor: 20th Century Fox Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies The movie-spoof industry fell victim to the diminishing returns of creative malaise and lazy filmmaking long ago. That hasn't stopped Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer ("Date Movie," "Epic Movie") from continuing to crank them out. This tired spoof of "300" is ostensibly a movie parody where almost all the references are ripped from TV reality shows, television commercials and celebrity scandals (the impersonations are so spotty that they have to identity themselves on-screen!). Sean Maguire puts on the leather diaper and delivers most of the homoerotic references as Leonidas, and Carmen Electra bumps and grinds away as his skanky Queen Margo, with Kevin Sorbo as Leonidas' dubious best friend, Diedrich Bader as the traitorous Traitoro (get it?), and Ken Davitian (of "Borat" fame) as the bloated Persian god-king. The Spartans get off easy: They die before the movie is over. It's the audience that really suffers. Features commentary by stars Maguire and Sorbo, bit players Nicole Parker and Ike Barinholtz, and co-director Seltzer, featurette spoofs, and a gag reel (which is both shorter and funnier than the film) among the supplements. Also available in Blu-ray format. | ||||||||||||||
