PG,1hr 32min Genre: Released: January 1, 1979 Director: Distributor: HBO Home Video Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies Bill Murray was the new kid on "Saturday Night Live" when he spent his summer vacation making his feature debut as a practical-joking camp counselor in this shaggy comedy, directed by "Animal House" producer Ivan Reitman and co-written by "Second City" alumnus Harold Ramis. The raucous, irreverent, genially sloppy result became the quintessential summer camp farce (PG incarnation) and a match made in comedy heaven. Head counselor Murray puts the moves on a female staffer and pulls pranks on both the rich kids across the lake and his benevolent doofus of a boss, Morty (Harvey Atkin), and still finds time to actually counsel troubled teen Chris Makepeace. This special edition features a new digital transfer supervised by director Reitman, commentary by Reitman and producer/co-writer Daniel Goldberg and the original documentary "Summer Camp: The Making of Meatballs." | ||||||||||||||
