R,1hr 34min Genre: Released: March 16, 2007 Director: Distributor: Fox Searchlight Pictures Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies Chris Rock directs and stars, as a successful investment banker with a wife (Gina Torres) and family and seemingly perfect life that is boring him to tears, in his remake of Eric Rohmer's "Chloe in the Afternoon," the last of the French director's wry "Moral Tales" of sex, desire and temptation. Rock's fantasies of a more adventurous love life arrive in the form of a sexy old acquaintance (Kerry Washington), a free-spirited single woman whose flirtations put his marriage to the test. MSNBC critic John Hartl describes it as "an unpleasantly schizoid new comedy ... (It) may include plenty of raw R-rated language, but the movie keeps insisting that it's an old-fashioned endorsement of monogamy and the joys of child-rearing." Steve Buscemi co-stars as Rock's philandering friend, and Edward Herrmann is his boss. Rock provides a commentary track for the disc, which also includes the featurette "I Do Love Making This Movie," a casting featurette, alternate and deleted scenes and bloopers. Wide-screen and full-screen versions on a single two-sided flipper disc. | ||||||||||||||
