PG13,1hr 55min Genre: Released: July 20, 2007 Director: Distributor: Universal Pictures Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies
Adam Sandler and Kevin James set the progress of gay rights back decades as a pair of New York firefighters who pose as a same-sex domestic couple for purely selfish reasons, and then plod through every narrative cliché and cultural stereotype with predictable results. Sandler is Chuck, a cocky, emotionally callous ladies' man with the soul of an adolescent and the mouth of a sailor, and James is his best friend, Larry, a widower with two kids. It's not so much that they indulge in every dated homosexual stereotype to maintain the charade when the city sends the "gay inspector" (a fastidious Steve Buscemi), but that their masquerade somehow transforms them into heroes in the gay community. Jessica Biel plays a civil rights attorney who becomes Chuck's sexy gal-pal and lets it all hang out around him, and Dan Aykroyd and Ving Rhames co-star. Features commentary by Sandler and James and director Dennis Dugan, a solo commentary by Dugan, deleted scenes with optional commentary by Dugan, outtakes, and various brief featurettes (including a guide to cameo appearances). Also available in HD DVD format. DVD Detailed Information | ||||||||||||||||
