R,1hr 42min Genre: Released: January 1, 1989 Director: Distributor: Anchor Bay Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies (Note: This review refers to the Blu-ray version of the DVD.) Michael Lehmann's hilariously black-hearted comedy of teen angst and vicious cliques, with Christian Slater in all his sneering, Jack Nicholson charm and Winona Ryder as the popular girl turned social rebel, is a devilishly nasty look at high school backbiting turned homicidal. It couldn't be made today in the climate of real-life teen violence, but the 1989 production is a wicked satire. The set features the previously released two-disc DVD collection (with commentary and featurettes) plus a new Blu-ray disc in a miniature locker replica (in teal) with a T-shirt, fridge magnets and yearbook-style booklet. | ||||||||||||||
