Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies John Woo left Hong Kong on the biggest, most action-packed crime thriller of his Asian career, a kinetic explosion of action, and this time the heroes are both cops. Chow Yun-Fat is volatile rogue detective Tequila and Tony Leung Chiu Wai is his soft-spoken counterpart, a deep cover operative in the heart of the Triads and the initial target of his investigations. Of course they bond under fire, and fire has never looked so good, from the chaotic opening tea-house shootout to a 45-minute hospital firefight that, 15 years later, is still one of the most impressive action set pieces in world cinema. The ballet of violence has never been so outrageously or beautifully choreographed. This two-disc set is the film's third DVD incarnation and features all-new supplements: commentary by Hong Kong cinema expert Bey Logan, interviews with Woo, producer Terence Chang, and actors Philip Chan and Kwok Choi, and a location guide, as well as Hong Kong and U.S. trailers. | ||||||||||||||
