Martin Lawrence continues to take pages from Eddie Murphy's career playbook by headlining this G-rated comedy. It's a typical Disney family film: big, brash and broadly played. Raven-Symoné is the smart and sassy teenager on her way to college, and Lawrence is the dad who redefines doting as obsessively overbearing. When his carefully laid plans to enroll his little girl at the nearby Northwestern are complicated by an interview at Georgetown University, he decides to personally drive her from Illinois to Washington, D.C. -- not her idea of a wild weekend road trip. A precocious little brother and a cute piglet stow away to provide added chaos to the formulaic series of comic disasters, and Donny Osmond co-stars as the whitest middle-class dad ever to belt out a show tune in a car caravan. The DVD features two commentary tracks (one by director Roger Kumble and actress Raven-Symoné, the other by writers Emi Mochizuki and Carrie Evans), deleted scenes with optional director commentary, altered opening, a gag reel and a couple of promotional featurettes. Also available in Blu-ray format.
