Catch and Release

Jennifer Garner seeks the comfort of her best friends (Kevin Smith and Sam Jaeger) in the wake of her fiancé's sudden death and discovers that he was far from the perfect man she thought he was. Meanwhile, she finds herself unexpectedly attracted to his rakishly charming childhood buddy (Timothy Olyphant), a Los Angeles director who flies in for the funeral and stays to show there is more to him than his womanizing reputation. MSNBC critic John Hartl writes that: "It's the kind of comedy-drama that doesn't always succeed in blending a variety of moods. Still, it's exceptionally well-cast and escapes predictability just often enough to become quite watchable and even, during its final reel, rather touching." Screenwriter Susannah Grant ("Erin Brockovich") makes her directorial debut with the film and Juliette Lewis co-stars as an eccentric single mother with an unexpected connection to their little enclave.
