Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies A convicted three-time loser, ex-Marine Tim (Paul Walker), is yanked from his maximum security prison term (where the Aryan Brotherhood has just passed a death sentence on him) by a ruthless DEA agent (Laurence Fishburne) to impersonate surfer/drug-dealer Bobby Z in a sting operation. Or so he's told before all hell breaks loose and he's targeted by ... well, just about everyone around holding a gun. The contrived, low-concept film, which turns the lowlife Tim into a hero by default, wound up going straight to DVD for all the reasons you'd expect: the script is dull and the direction by John Herzfeld ("2 Days in the Valley") features plenty of brutal violence but little flair. Olivia Wilde plays Bobby Z's ex-girlfriend, and Jason Flemyng, Joaquim de Almeida, Chuck Liddell, Jason Lewis and Keith Carradine co-star. Includes the obligatory behind-the-scenes featurette. | ||||||||||||||
