PG,1hr 31min Released: October 3, 2008 Director: Distributor: Walt Disney Pictures Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies Yes indeed, talking dogs (voiced by the likes of Drew Barrymore, Andy Garcia, George Lopez and Cheech Marin) are the stars of this live action Disney comedy (with a little CGI assist) about a pampered pooch that gets lost south of the border. "The humor in this movie depends on how amused you are by tiny dogs wearing diamonds and Jackie O knockoffs, and whether you find Mexican accents and other stereotypical humor inherently funny," opines MSN's Cinemama. "If you do, well, this is your movie, complete with a practically hallucinogenic, quasi-religious scene in which a stampede of Chihuahuas living in a secret Aztec ruin pledges to restore dignity to their breed." Piper Perabo and Jamie Lee Curtis headline the human cast. The DVD features commentary by director Raja Gosnell, who also introduces the deleted scenes, along with the three-minute animated documentary "Legend of the Chihuahua" and the obligatory bloopers. The Blu-ray edition features more deleted scenes and two behind-the-scenes featurettes. | ||||||||||||||
