R,1hr 26min Released: August 10, 2007 Director: Distributor: Samuel Goldwyn Film/Red Envelope Starring: DVD Review by Sean Axmaker, Special to MSN Movies Writer/director/star Julie Delpy, star of "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset," returns to Paris for her own take on the story of a couple in the City of Lights and displays a sardonic attitude closer to Woody Allen than Richard Linklater. This couple -- hypochondriac New Yorker Adam Goldberg and his Parisian girlfriend Delpy -- has been together for years and the strains are showing as they drop into Paris for a quick visit with her parents. He's a 21st century Jewish Felix Unger, obsessed with cleanliness and hygiene and perpetually nursing a migraine, and he discovers a whole new side to her once they hit her old stomping grounds, including a string of boyfriends that seems to fill the streets. It's cute and funny and prickly, with a humor that cushions the conflicts humming just under the surface. Includes a 16-minute interview with Delpy, who talks about her film with a lot of energy and passion, and extended scenes. | ||||||||||||||
