She's facing time in the pokey; he's on parole. But it was all hearts and
roses -- literally on that last one -- for Lindsay Lohan and her dad, Michael,
this weekend in Utah.
Paparazzi were conveniently on hand Sunday to capture the dysfunctional
father and daughter as they hugged it out in an idyllic garden setting near the
Cirque Lodge rehab center, where the substance-susceptible starlet has been
lying low seeking treatment for more than a month.
Michael, who was released from the slammer in March after a two-year stint on
DUI and other charges, was his usual reticent self when it came to speaking to
the media about his first meeting with Lindsay in three years.
"It's wonderful," he gushed to the New York Post. "She's doing great. When
she saw me, she jumped into my arms. She's my Lindsay, and I love her. I thank
God this reunion has taken place."
One person he isn't thanking is his ex-wife Dina, whom he's accused of "doing
everything possible to prevent me from seeing my kids."
Still, that hasn't stopped the blabby, blame-deflecting mom-ager from
publicly giving her stamp of approval for the meet-up, which is supposedly aimed
to be more "therapeutic" than social.
"I'm so glad he's visiting her," Dina pronounced to VH1's 24Sizzler.com,
before sniping, "I really wanted her to have closure a really long time ago, so
she could come to terms with the abusive behavior that myself and my children
[Lindsay, Michael Jr., Dakota and Ali] endured when they were younger."
Lindsay has made no secret of her conflicted feelings for her father. She
acted out her daddy issues in the autobiographical video "Confessions of a
Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)," which portrayed an abusive parental
relationship.
"I feel like a second parent in the sense that I helped raise my family," she
told Allure a few months back. "And I was put between my mother and father a
lot. Well, I would put myself between them to try and keep the peace, and I felt
good doing that."
Meanwhile, when not taking jabs at her ex, Dina is bursting with pride over
her double-DUI-busted, thrice-rehabbed daughter, 21, whose once-soaring career
is currently on life support.
"She's doing well. I'm so proud of her," kvells Mama Lohan. "She's grown up."
And what of tabloid talk that LiLo has found romance with a fellow patient in
between taking a fearless moral inventory.
"Oh my God, yah right," dismisses Dina. "That never happened. Cirque is so
strict compared to everywhere else."
Lindsay, who has been snapped out of rehab river-rafting, self-tanning and
making a drugstore run, is reportedly due to be released into the real world
sometime in the next week. Consider yourselves warned.
