Forget those blurry pictures of Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster, because
that most elusive of creatures has finally been captured on film. Yes, the
mythical Gyllenspoon has been spotted in Los Angeles, with Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal twice snapped driving and smiling
together in recent days.
You'll recall it was just a month ago that the supposed squeezes were rumored
to have put a fork in their fledgling romance, ostensibly because the Oscar
winner didn't have "enough emotional space for him" due to her dedication
to tykes Ava, 7, and Deacon, 3.
But Witherspoon has apparently done some internal remodeling because Us
Weekly is declaring them back together, saying the actress has had a "change of
heart."
"Reese came to terms with the fact that she can have a relationship
and spend time with her kids," a confidante of the ex Mrs. Ryan Phillippe tells the mag. "She's ready to move
on."
Their recent paparazzi-documented outings have included a sandwich run, with
Jake, 26, grabbing an order at a Los Angeles eatery as Reese, 31, idled
outside in her Mercedes, and a daytime rendezvous, with the actress picking up
the dreamy-eyed, be-stubbled star at his Hollywood Hills pad in her Lexus and
heading for her place in Brentwood.
The prepossessing pair, who were first linked in the early spring, decided to
give their romance another shot about two weeks ago, says Us.
"They get along great and have similar interests, like exercising," a
Gyllenhaal mole lets slip. "And they care about each other."
Granted, a shared love of feeling the burn while encased in spandex might not
be the strongest foundation on which to build a relationship, but they also
appear to appreciate hearth and home.
"Jake finds it attractive that she's such a great mom," an insider told
People in April. "He really loves kids and wants a family."
Still, it was Reese's commitment to her offspring that supposedly led to
trouble initially.
"She just got out of a divorce and was so concerned with her family,"
explained a snitch, "she just didn't have the time for him and he really
demanded that."
Chimes in an Us source, "It was hard for her to let Jake go the first time."
Whatever the state of their relationship, expect the two to bob and weave
around the romance issue next month at the Toronto Film Festival, where they'll
stump for their drama "Rendition."
Meanwhile, when not zooming around Los Angeles with her possibly
rekindled inamorato, Witherspoon is answering the "ding-dong"-chiming call of
Avon.
The actress has signed on as the company's first-ever global ambassador, a
gig that will let her focus attention on breast cancer, domestic violence and
emergency relief efforts in between pitching beauty products.
"Avon is more than an iconic world class beauty leader -- it is a company
that is known the world over as a crusader for women's causes," says Reese. "I
feel a great responsibility in my own life to give back to society ... [and] I
am proud to be joining in the great philanthropic work that is already under
way."
