Has Cameron Diaz's support of going green helped her land
a man with piles of green? Us Weekly says the Prius-driving actress, 34, who
recently recycled blink-and-you'll-miss-him beau Criss Angel to the compost heap, is seeing moneybags
British banking scion-cum-environmentalist David de Rothschild, 28.
According to the mag, the enviro-conscious pair was first spied hanging out
together in the VIP section at the July 7 Live Earth concert at Giants Stadium
in New Jersey, where both hit the stage to talk about global warming (de
Rothschild is also the author of "The Live Earth Global Warming Survival
Handbook").
Two days later, the leggy star and the scruffy, eligible heir, whom a
swooning London Sunday Times recently described as "seriously handsome -- all
towering height, rough beard and smiley eyes," supposedly "flirted and touched
throughout dinner" at a New York eatery.
So are Diaz and de Rothschild a sustainable match made in eco heaven?
Apparently not so much. Diaz is denying the romance chatter, which is too
bad, considering that coupling up with de Rothschild could do wonders for water
conservation.
Cam, you'll recall, urged Live Earth viewers to turn off the shower when they
shave their legs, while David, in his June profile as one of People's "Hottest
Bachelors," revealed that he loves taking baths -- but tries his best to "share
them."
Another common interest: travel. Diaz starred in the continent-hopping MTV
enviro-series "Trippin'"; de Rothschild has
sled-dogged it across the North Pole to promote his Adventure Ecology organization.
Perhaps the British do-gooder is just keeping his social calendar clear for
his upcoming expedition. He tells People he plans to sail across the Pacific in
a boat comprised of recycled plastic bottles in 2009 to draw attention to ocean
pollution.
As for Angel, he continues to conjure up headlines with his magical gift for
spin. The gabby "Mindfreak" illusionist released a
statement on Sunday firing back at claims leveled by his long-estranged wife, Joann
Sarantakos, who, among other things, says his brief encounter with Diaz
contributed to their split.
"Cameron is a good friend and an amazing person, and to defame her and myself
and paint her as the reason for my marriage's demise is factually inaccurate,
ridiculous and just plain wrong," rails Angel (via People). "It seems clear and
very unfortunate to me that Joann and her attorney both hope that these false
statements will provide my estranged wife, who has also been dating during this
time, the financial windfall she is obviously seeking."
