Lindsay Lohan looked very much in the pink as she hit
the MTV Movie Awards in an abbreviated purple dress on Sunday night, three days
after she was photographed at a Los Angeles emergency room with bosom buddy
Samantha Ronson.
Initially, her rep maintained the rumor-surrounded pair was there to visit a
friend, but the starlet's fame-hankering mom-ager Dina reveals to People that
Lindsay was treated for an asthma attack.
"She was losing oxygen," says Dina. "She couldn't breathe."
Hours before Lindsay's hospital trip, TMZ.com reported she was experiencing
chest pains on her flight from New York to Los Angeles and had asked for a "warm
compress."
"She's been flying around the world for five days," Dina blabs to OK!. "She
was in Cannes. The temperature changes affect her breathing."
What's more, she adds to People, "She was afraid to go to the hospital
because [the paparazzi] were gonna write about it. She was sick. If you were
sick, and your mother couldn't even take you to a hospital because paparazzi
will fabricate some story, you know, it's sad. It's really sad."
Of course, Dina's kvetching might be more effective if she had actually been
around to accompany her eldest daughter to the ER.
"She wanted me to fly out but I have four kids," the reality show headliner
explains to OK!. "My 11-year-old son just made the New York State Soccer Team."
As for Lindsay's deejay sidekick, whom she was snapped snuggling up to during
the Cannes Film Festival and is reportedly living with, Mama Lohan has nothing
but praise, telling People, "Samantha is an angel."
And those rumblings that their relationship has progressed to diamond rings?
"If she's happy, I'm happy," declares Dina to OK!. "That's all I'll say."
But is her thrice-rehabbed offspring looking to say a whole lot more?

The New York Post says Lindsay has been approached by OK! to tell her side of
the Samantha story, purportedly offering her "around $1 million to do the
cover."
"Lindsay really wants this to happen," a snitch asserts to the paper, "and
she needs the money."
But her flack says there's no coming-out deal in the works, pooh-poohing,
"They sent offers and we passed."
Either way, "Lindsay has never been happier," an insider tells People. "They
are 'together,' but this is not about sexuality. She has found someone who is
always there for her. Lindsay feels safe around Samantha."
Still, when asked by the Times of London about her "best friend now, the one
she trusts with her life," Lindsay ranked Samantha below her assistant, Jeni,
and her so-called stylist, Patrick.
"Hmm, that's hard," she admits to the paper. "Jeni's one of them. Patrick's
another. Yeah, Sam Ronson, too, and my friend Lauryn Flynn at Calvin Klein. When
I'm in London, I'm close to Bryan Adams ... oh, and my mom."
Not that she intends to join Dina and little sister Ali on "Living Lohan."
"I wish them both well, I really do, but it's their thing," says Lindsay. "I
don't want any part of it. Besides, it takes the attention away from me, which
always helps."
And despite getting testy with personal-space-encroaching paparazzi over the
weekend as she shopped in Los Angeles sans Ronson, she doesn't want the
cameras to stop clicking.
"I don't take it like that," she opines. "I think it's the glass-half-full
thing, the way you perceive things."
Speaking of perception, she believes her tabloid staple status has caused her
to be misjudged.
"You know, people may think I'm this and that, but I'm not a bad person,"
insists Lindsay. "I'm really not."
