Professionally, Lindsay Lohan has seen better days (what, you didn't catch
her unmemorable minute of screen time on the "Ugly
Betty" season finale?), but thanks to her question-filled personal life, she
continues to generate headlines.
Seems that while partying on Diddy's yacht last week at the Cannes Film Festival, the
attention-craving starlet, 21, wasn't exactly shy about showing her affection
for deejay Samantha Ronson, 30, her constant companion in recent months.
The pair was snapped hugging, holding hands and sharing a tight-lipped kiss
at the exclusive soiree Thursday night. The following evening, Lindsay turned up
at a Dolce & Gabbana shindig sporting a butt-skimming minidress and a
diamond band on her ring finger, a speculation-inviting bauble that quickly
sparked engagement talk.
Ronson, however, dismissed the ring rumors when surrounded by paparazzi
Tuesday in New York, scoffing to TMZ.com, "Not true." As for their
touchy-feeliness in Cannes, Lohan's rep tells the New York Daily News, "They are
close friends."
But has the actress, who was photographed Tuesday night in Manhattan with her
mom Dina and younger sibs Ali and Cody, decided to offer her take on
relationship rumblings?

"This is all I'm saying about the situation," she purportedly posted on her
MySpace page Tuesday (via JJ's Dirt). "I can date who I want to date. I can do
what I want to do ... Sam is great. She's more than great."
Less great is LiLo's dad, Michael, who seems incapable of keeping his fried
bologna hole closed when it comes to his oft-estranged (and understandably so)
daughter.
Papa Lohan spent much of Tuesday talking to any outlet that would listen
about how he hasn't discussed his issues-plagued offspring's closeness with
Ronson.
It all started with Us Weekly, which quoted him as saying Lindsay's alleged
relationship with Samantha "is evident to anyone with half a brain."
But Michael quickly backtracked, insisting to OK!, "I never said anything
like this. I've never even looked at the pictures of Linds and Sam, so how can I
comment on this?"
The born-again jailbird also gave Billy Bush a call, explaining that his
statement was aimed at ex-wife Dina's execrable new reality show, "Living
Lohan."
"It was applied towards Lindsay," he rants. "It was twisted and
misrepresented ... that's Lindsay's business. Lindsay can make her own life
choices, that's between her and God."

He then pointed out to the New York Daily News that his sobriety-challenged
progeny's decisions are her own: "I don't get involved in my daughter's personal
life. They're friends, they're always together. I hug my friends, does that make
me a homosexual? Of course not."
Lohan's time with Ronson is well-documented, with the BFFs hitting rock
bottom over Memorial Day weekend in 2007, when the actress crashed her Mercedes,
received a DUI and was photographed seemingly passed out in the passenger seat
of Samantha's car. She soon headed off to rehab.
More drama was kicked up in April 2008, when LiLo supposedly confronted Ashley Olsen at a New York nightclub when she spied her
chatting with Ronson.
"Get your 15-year-old 'Full House' a-- away from my girlfriend," she is said
to have hollered at the more substantial Olsen twin (per People).
When not raising eyebrows, Lindsay has squeezed in some actual work,
including recording the song "Bossy" for her forthcoming CD.
"I gotta admit, we were like ... Lindsay Lohan?" co-producer Ne-Yo tells Billboard of his reaction to working with the
not quite vocal powerhouse. "I mean, I've written for Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Celine Dion and ... Lindsay Lohan? But I will say this; we
gave her a quality record and she did a ridiculously fabulous job. I was so
shocked I had to call her and apologize for what I was thinking because she did
so good. I think the world is gonna be surprised."
