To house their six kids, Mike and Carol Brady chose the finest split-level
home that '60s suburban architecture had to offer. For their expanding bunch, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may be going slightly more upscale.
The French newspaper Nice Matin reports (via People) that the
twin-fanticipating megastars have signed a three-year lease for a centuries-old
chateau in the south of France that's so massive Alice the maid would take one
look and immediately turn in her apron and feather duster.
The Jolie-Pitts' ostensible Gallic getaway is Chateau Miraval, an 880-acre
estate worth an estimated $70 million. For that mind-numbing sum, Brangelina's
brood -- Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, Shiloh, who turned 2 on Tuesday, and
the double bundles of genetically superior joy to be uniquely named later --
will have their choice of 35 bedrooms (yes, we're still processing that number,
too), according to E! News.
They can also explore the property's 20 fountains, moat, lake, vineyard,
indoor and outdoor pools, his-and-hers gyms, pool room, sauna, banquet hall,
ponies, olive groves and recording studio.
No word on whether the kids will be outfitted with tracking devices so they
don't get lost on the sprawling compound, which is apparently located near the
home of Johnny Depp, who is likely somewhere weeping as he pictures
the army of paparazzi soon invading the quiet countryside.
"The house is surrounded by a forest so they'll have total privacy, which is
exactly what they're after," an insider tells E!. "No one will ever be able to
get pictures of them relaxing at home, it's just impossible."
The fertile flames, who have reportedly been searching for a base in France
for a couple of years, have spent the last few weeks holed up with their rug
rats at the palatial St. Jean Cap Ferrat pad owned by billionaire Paul Allen.
The E! source says the Jolie-Pitts hope to settle into the rarefied
residence, which would join a real estate portfolio that includes homes in
Malibu and Santa Barbara, Calif., New Orleans and Cambodia,
within the next three months.
"Brad and Angelina are thrilled. They love the place and have already been
furniture shopping to fill the place as it's massive," enthuses the spy.
"They've already spent almost another million on furniture and the whole family
can't wait to move in."
Jolie, whose double buns will be done baking this summer, hinted at the
Cannes Film Festival that she might give birth in the land of Brie and
baguettes, adding that French is the family's "second language" in their many
homes.
"It was a dream of my mother's to live in France. Brad and I are taking
French lessons," she tells the Sydney Morning Herald, referring to mom
Marcheline Bertrand, who died of cancer in January 2007. "There's something to
the language that my mother spoke a bit, and her parents spoke, and she always
wanted me and my children to speak."

The ridiculously radiant Oscar winner also brings up her long-estranged
father, Jon Voight, as she acknowledges that her dual incubation has
mainly affected her midsection.
"It's genetics," professes Jolie of her Jiffy Pop belly. "Dad's a lanky
person. I'm actually trying to put on as much weight as possible so I can
stretch, you know. I want as much room as possible."
As for where she stands with Voight, she says, "I think sometimes you have to
distance yourself from relationships you feel are unhealthy for you. But we have
spoken recently and we are going to try to get to know each other and maybe try
not to be this daddy and daughter, but to be there for each other as friends in
the coming years."
Just don't expect him to walk her down the aisle. Despite dozens of tabloid
stories detailing Brad and Angelina's alleged plans to make things legal, she
insists it's not on their to-do list.
"You know, we're not against it; it's not something we're making a stand
about or are scared of. It's just not felt necessary," she explains (Pitt has
previously said they'd get hitched when "everyone else in the country who wants
to be married is legally able"). "We've both been married before and I think we
feel like we are together because we want to be. We want to raise these children
together -- we're committed to them and that's the priority. It's not about some
contract binding us to have to be dedicated to each other, but that we were
going to start building this family and be close just because we are."
That said, they might "one day" tie the knot "if the kids start asking," says
Jolie. "They'll probably be the ones to make the decision."
At the moment, however, she's quite content with the status quo (and
presumably would be even without a castlelike chateau to call home).
"... Right now in my life I have a really good partner and somebody who makes
me feel [beautiful] even when I've got the flu and I'm sick or if I've just had
my C-section in the hospital when I had Shiloh," gushes the actress. "I think
there is a lot to being supported and loved. You know, my kids make me feel
beautiful."
Concludes a blissful Angelina, "True beauty is when you've really found
something inside yourself that you're at peace with and the people around you
are as well."
