Cameron Diaz recently admitted to British GQ, "I'm boy crazy. That hasn't changed since I was very young." But is the 35-year-old star gaga over Gerard Butler -- or is she still keeping her options open?

On Friday night, paparazzi caught Diaz chatting and laughing with the beefy "300" actor at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, although no overt displays of affection were captured on camera (the grainy X17 video also shows several other people present at the confab).

Meanwhile, the London Sunday Mirror says it spotted Cam and Gerry looking thisclose as the sun went down at L.A.'s Shutters Hotel last week.

"They walked up to the balcony area to look at the sunset," a spywitness alleges to the paper. "He had one arm round her waist and the other on the small of her back. She kept giggling and touching his chest to whisper in his ear. They obviously had a good night."

A third sighting took place March 29 at nightclub Teddy's, according to Life & Style, which says the purported pair was in their own little world.

"They ignored everyone else," maintains a bystander. "They just kept getting closer and closer ... there was a lot of thigh and arm touching, which got more progressive as the night went on."

Then, in a development we prefer not to read any deeper meaning into, the snitch tattles that Cameron "placed her bottle of Voss water between her legs, and Gerard put his hand on it."

Anyhoo, Diaz and Butler, who's been out stumping for "Nim's Island," apparently have at least one important thing in common: questionable taste in the opposite sex.

After her breakup with Justin Timberlake in January 2007, the leggy A-lister dated squicky illusionist Criss Angel and dirty danced with crooning Casanova John Mayer, while the Scottish thespian was last linked to anger management class clown Naomi Campbell.

Diaz's rep didn't respond to our request for comment on the hookup rumors.

Still, it looks like Cam's social calendar is jam-packed these days.

People spotted her hanging with Diddy Saturday night at the bar of the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The two "snuggled, sipped martinis, laughed and talked non-stop," according to the mag.

This makes the second Diaz-Diddy sighting in just over a month, following an In Touch report of them having a tête-à-tête at a Los Angeles eatery, with an eyewitness positing, "They could just be friends, but it looked like more. They sat very close to each other."

The actress told GQ it's "been nice not having a boyfriend for the past year. In fact, it's the first time I haven't had one in 10 years, and I'm enjoying what I'm getting out of this moment."

Besides, she added in a declaration reminiscent of a teenage boy talking about his mysterious girlfriend in Canada, "I could be in a relationship if I wanted to be, but I haven't finished doing what I'm doing."
