Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are rapidly approaching their one-year anniversary, and, over the weekend, they returned to the town where rumors of their romance first surfaced.

On Sunday, the low-key lovebirds, dressed similarly in black coats, black pants and dark shades, were snapped exiting a New York boutique, with the dreamy-eyed if cardigan-by-Mr.-Rogers-sporting actor toting a large shopping bag as the Oscar-winning mother of two followed a few paces behind.

That same day, they were spied looking touchy-feely as they perambulated around town and obeyed traffic laws.

"It was really sweet," a detail-oriented eyewitness tells Perez Hilton. "They were holding hands, he was holding her Balenciaga bag, and he was kissing her on the head while they waited for the light to change."

Two days earlier in Los Angeles, Gyllenspoon were acting equally affectionate as shutterbugs, who were likely temporarily blinded by Jake's blight of a plaid shirt, captured them strolling with their arms around each other.

While Reese got handsy on both sides of the country with Jake, her ex, Ryan Phillippe, was enjoying some quality fun time with their adorable rug rats, Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4.

The trio spent the weekend playing in the snow at Big Bear in California, where Ava got in a snowboarding lesson as Deacon hung out in the powdery stuff with his dad.
