When not supposedly steeling themselves for the tabloid-heralded "showdown" with Jennifer Aniston at a pre-Oscar charity bash on Feb. 23, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been enjoying oodles of family
time.
On Monday, the magnetic pair turned up at a Los Angeles panaderia (Mexican
bakery) with Maddox, 6, and Pax, 4, where they ordered pupusas (a tasty tortilla
and cheese treat), reports PageSix.com.
Turns out Brangelina and their brood are regulars, with an employee blabbing
that they "come in all the time. The pupusas are their favorite -- they always
get that."
Also regulars, it seems, are the paparazzi, who tracked the ridiculously
famous clan as they made their getaway with a takeout bag in hand.
Brad led the way, keeping a close eye on Maddox as he warned the snappers to
keep their distance. Angelina, who has yet to confirm whether she is indeed
incubating another genetic lottery winner (or two), carried Pax in her arms,
where he helpfully blocked the view of her belly.
When the foursome reached their massive black SUV, mom and dad showed their
parental teamwork by working in tandem to load the tykes into the back, with the
requisite cute moment coming when Pitt told them, "Alright, boys," and Pax
repeated the phrase back to him.
Brad then opened the passenger door for Angelina before hopping behind the
wheel and zooming off.
It was a less contentious camera confrontation than the one Pitt purportedly
faced a few weeks back, when he decided to do a little shopping at the Grove
in Los Angeles with Zahara (Angelina was on her goodwill trip to
Iraq).
According to E! Online's Marc Malkin, a shutterbug didn't feel the need to
use a zoom lens to get a close-up, which sent the megastar into mega-protective
mode.
"This paparazzi guy was right in his face taking pictures," a mole tells
Malkin. "Brad grabbed the guy by the collar and said, 'Get the [bleep] away from
me!'"
No word on whether he had Zahara do "earmuffs" before allegedly making this
suggestion, but it seems he made his point.
"The paparazzi guy looked so scared," says the spy. "He just ran into the
parking garage."
The family was able to maintain a much lower profile during a getaway late
last week to California's Mammoth Mountain resort.
Only a few photos have emerged of their cold-weather fun on Feb. 15, which
included snowboarding for Maddox, skiing for Pax and sledding with dad for both
(21-month-old Shiloh, who's still mastering the whole walking thing, took in the
scene from Jolie's arms, while a pink snowsuited Zahara, 3, toddled around in
the snow.
"The children were thrilled to be in the snow," a bystander tells Us Weekly,
adding of Jolie, "People recognized her, but she didn't seem to mind. And she's
not a bad skier!"
But should she be on the slopes in her supposedly delicate condition? The mag
doesn't think so, getting a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at UCLA to
scold, "If she fell, it could hurt the baby."
Oy.
On Tuesday, it was mommy-and-me time for Jolie and Maddox, who were snapped
exiting an afternoon showing of the kid-friendly "Spiderwick Chronicles" at Los Angeles' ArcLight Cinemas.
The requisite cute moment: The actress, kitted out in a roomy, maternity-like
beige trench coat, held Mad's hand as he walked along the edge of a water
fountain.
And in a final bit of Brangelina news, yet another wave of wedding rumors is
breaking, helped along by the latest cover of Star, which trumpets, "Brad and
Angie Ready to Wed -- $200 Million Prenup Deal!"
But Pitt's camp insists to "Extra" that he and Jolie, who have three divorces
between them, are not engaged and currently have no plans to swap legally
binding vows.
In a 2006 Esquire profile, the actor stated, "Angie and I will consider tying
the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally
able."
