Kate Hudson informed the January issue of In Style that she's "made a conscious decision to try to stay single as long as possible." But that's apparently news to Us Weekly, which suspects she may be back in touch with two-time ex Owen Wilson. "They've been quietly seeing each other and hooking up," a mole maintains of the lookalike former lovebirds, who initially fizzled in May 2007 after almost a year of togetherness before reconnecting for three months in the spring of 2008. "But I don't see it being a monogamous thing yet." To reiterate that point, the mag says the issues-dealing "Marley & Me" star scored digits from a pair of ladies at a Los Angeles lounge on Dec. 13. And speaking of monogamy, the actress, whose brief interlude with Lance Armstrong went belly up in July, is attempting to clarify her stance on romantic fidelity. "I got into this very controversial thing once with 'Access Hollywood,'" Kate explains to Britain's Sunday Times magazine. "I was married at the time, and I was asked, 'Do you think monogamy is possible?' And I said, 'No, I don't think we're made up to be monogamous: We are animals.' So I would be doing myself a disservice by saying monogamy is going to be easy." But, professes Hudson, who's been in London filming "Nine," "I could never be in a relationship that wasn't monogamous ... because I don't know how to ... I couldn't deal with it. There is something sacred about the relationship that is broken. If we are going to try to go down this monogamy path, let's just know it's hard, because when you start hurting people and cheating, that is so mean."
Reese Witherspoon's present to birthday boy Jake Gyllenhaal: the gift of togetherness. The low-key couple of nearly two years celebrated the actor's big 2-8 on Friday by exchanging lovey-dovey glances as they dined a deux at Italian eatery Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Calif. During the three-hour meal, Gyllenhaal and his Oscar-winning squeeze sipped red wine, split a dessert of tiramisu and held hands under the table, says Us. And the pair must have left a generous tip, because as they drove away, restaurant staffers lobbed eggs at staked-out paparazzi. Earlier that day, Gyllenhaal joined Witherspoon and her son, Deacon, 5, for a "special breakfast" at Le Pain Quotidien in Brentwood, reports People. "Reese and Jake looked super-cute together," says an eyewitness. "Reese was just glowing." The trio was also spotted the next day enjoying lunch at a pizza place (the actress's daughter Ava, 9, was a no-show). On Sunday, it was once again just Jake and Reese, with shutterbugs following along as they did some Christmas shopping in Brentwood. Gyllenhaal, who has been in London for the last several months working on "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," will reportedly spend the holiday with Witherspoon and her kids at her retreat outside Los Angeles.
Jennifer Aniston took a breather from her tireless promotion of "Marley & Me" to enjoy some uncharacteristic sidewalk PDA with beau John Mayer. The pulchritudinous twosome shared mutual looks of schmoopiness as they exited New York eatery La Esquina on Thursday night and hoofed it arm-in-arm to the crooner's nearby pad, with a paparazzi contingent in tow. The following evening, Jen, 39, and John, 31, were hand-in-hand as they left the Olive Tree Cafe amid another flashbulb explosion. And while a few negative nellies are predicting that the romance will be one of the first casualties of 2009 (hey, don't look at us), Aniston has the full support of her BFF. "I want for Jen whatever she wants," Courteney Cox tells the Mail on Sunday's You magazine (read the whole interview, including why she believes a divorce from hubby David Arquette "isn't really an option," here. "She's really happy at the moment, so I don't have to worry about her." Courteney has presumably received regular updates on the state of the romance during her pal's standing playdate with her 4-year-old daughter. "Coco calls her Noona, which is Greek for godmother," says the actress. "They see each other and play together every weekend. The other day Jen came over with her yoga teacher and Coco stuck it out for an hour doing yoga with them!" As for what makes their friendship endure after 15 years, Cox believes it's because they "grew up together emotionally": "I lost my father, Jen got divorced, and I had a baby. We've been through huge life changes together. I can be myself around her. We never judge each other, we support each other, but we're honest with each other, too. I feel lucky to have her."
Has the age-mismatched romance of Hayden Panettiere, 19, and Milo Ventimiglia, 31, made like the plot of "Heroes" and gone south? People helpfully points out that the co-stars, who caused a collective "ew" and "dude, she plays your niece" when they were first linked in September of 2007, haven't been spied together in weeks (they were last snapped as they left a Los Angeles restaurant with the starlet's family on Nov. 25). Their reps aren't commenting, although the mag notes that Hayden was twice seen out with Jesse McCartney, 21, at L.A.'s Apple Lounge earlier this month.
Kevin Federline whooped it up in Las Vegas over the weekend with his new squeeze, statuesque former volleyball player Victoria Prince, but it seems he still has a thing or two to learn about chivalrous boyfriend behavior. People says Britney Spears' custody-retaining ex-husband left a bored-looking Prince sitting on her own as he partied and socialized at Sin City hot spot Tao on Friday night. That will likely provide some comfort for Britney. The Chicago Sun-Times claims the resurrected chart-topper is "very irritated" by his hookup with Prince, who plays on his bowling team, the Party Animals.
Seven months after Jessica Alba and Cash Warren swapped vows at a Los Angeles courthouse, they've finally gotten around to marking the happy event with their loved ones. Us reports the pair held a formal reception for family and close friends on Friday night to "celebrate their love and commitment to each other." The party took place at their newly refurbished Beverly Hills mansion and included an appearance by 6-month-old daughter Honor, who was decked out in a gray dress with attached angel wings. That cuteness overload aside, the schmaltz was kept to a minimum. Alba and Warren said a few words before their respective dads offered congratulations on the union. "There were no tears, just lots of happiness and love," a guest tells the magazine. "It felt extremely special for everyone." |
