Quickies: Dr. Carrey Is In; Hef 'Impressed' by Naked Aniston
Posted Dec. 17, 2008

If we needed advice on how to talk out of our butt, Jim Carrey would be our go-to guy. But when it comes to medical opinions, we'll stick with someone who won't shove the stethoscope down his pants in the name of comedy. During a sit-down with Larry King on Monday night, the funnyman turned serious as he talked about his battle with depression. "You know, at the risk of, like, opening up the whole Tom Cruise Prozac argument, you know, I don't disagree in many ways," said Carrey, who is out pushing "Yes Man." "I think Prozac and things like that are very valuable to people for short periods of time. But I believe if you're on them for an extended period of time, you never get to the problem. You never get to see what the problem is, because everything is just kind of OK. And so, you don't deal. And people deal when they get desperate." His suggestion: supplements such as Hydroxytryptophan and Tyrosine. Carrey reveals he's writing about the subject, a forthcoming piece that will probably include some of his philosophical musings. "I believe that everything that happens to you is the greatest thing that could ever happen to you," he attempted to explain to Larry, who shot back with, "Fall down a manhole?" "Everything," maintained the Jenny McCarthy-smitten star. "Mugged in an alleyway, hit with a brick in the face. Everything is the greatest thing that could ever happen to you. ... I believe that's how the universe works. It gives you exactly what you're in alignment with, what you're expecting. ... It's all designed to work on the weakest link you have."

There's one more reason for Lindsay Lohan to learn to love quiet nights at home with hot cocoa and a good book: scarily enthusiastic fans (yes, she still has them). TMZ says the underemployed starlet was exiting a Scottsdale, Ariz., club with inamorata Samantha Ronson, who had been doing her DJ thing, around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday when a 38-year-old guy tried to push his way through security in a bid to get into her personal space. "The gentleman became very excited when he realized he was so close to Samantha, and he has a history of being a stalker with Lindsay Lohan," the club's owner told the local ABC News affiliate, "so he immediately attacked her and started yelling, 'I love her, I love her.'" He was reportedly arrested for disorderly conduct but was released after a few hours. The cops later contacted Lohan and Ronson about the incident, but they were apparently clueless about what had gone on. This is the second time in a month that Lindsay's club-hopping has led to a ruckus. Last month in Paris, an anti-fur activist covered her in flour as she entered a hot spot wearing a fuzzy stole.

If you find it hard to look directly at filler-happy, liver-lipped Lisa Rinna when she's fully clothed, then prepare to avert your eyes (and maybe don safety goggles), because she may be soon reveal all. Mrs. Harry Hamlin confirms to "Extra" that she's considering posing for Playboy. "I'm the worst liar on the planet; I can't lie," she says, "so ... I think that could be a yes."

Speaking of Playboy, Hugh Hefner was roused from his Playmate- and Geritol-induced euphoria long enough to offer a comment on Jennifer Aniston's naked GQ cover. "This looks like the cover of Playboy. I'm much impressed by Jennifer," the 82-year-old grotto dweller tells "Extra" of the star's bunny-like (as in the cute little animal, not the bow-tied hottie) pose. "Never seen her in this light before." He then proves he's in need of a nap by repeating the magazine's cover line nearly word-for-word, marveling, "Is it just me, or is Jennifer Aniston getting hotter?" Alas, Hef negates his compliment when asked which actress he'd like to land for his mag: "Either Angelina Jolie or Scarlett Johansson."
