The high school-like hostilities between former
friends-turned-enemies-turned-frenemies Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton continue to rise and fall faster than
Kevin Federline's standard of living.
Nearly three weeks after Lindsay was caught on camera calling Paris a very
unladylike name (she quickly recanted and professed her love), she's once again
gone to the video, this time to accuse her fellow publicity seeker of pelting
her with a beverage. "I'm saying this on tape," Lohan told
photographers early Sunday morning in Los Angeles (via X17.com). "She hit me
last night, for no reason, apparently, at my friend's house ... I didn't
know she'd be there and she hit me. She hit me with a drink and poured it all
over me and it hurts and it's not okay." In the midst of this
rapid-fire rant, the world-weary, injury-prone starlet points to an invisible
spot near her left elbow where Paris purportedly gave her a
boo-boo. Lindsay then addresses her reputation as both a drama
queen and serious thespian: "... I'm sorry for everyone that thinks I'm crazy.
I'm not. I'm just trying to act." The kerfuffle allegedly took
place at a Saturday night soiree in the Hollywood Hills, where shutterbugs from
Splash News captured Lindsay exchanging words with security personnel, and
someone who sounded like Lindsay was heard calling Paris, who was partying with
new pal Britney Spears, "crazy," among other choice descriptors.
Later, a female voice inside the house can be heard screaming the
unflattering anatomical nickname Brandon Davis bestowed upon Lohan several
months ago as Hilton giggled by his side. But faster than you can
say PR maneuver, the explosive situation was defused, with Paris' ever-vigilant
rep, Elliot Mintz, politely disagreeing with Lohan's account of what happened at
the shindig. "I attended the party in question and can assure [you]
that Lindsay's reportage is inaccurate," he tells MSN Entertainment, adding to
X17, "At no time did Paris ever throw anything at Lindsay. At no time did Paris
ever hit her, assault her, touch her or make any physical contact with her ... I
believe that a drink was thrown at Paris and Britney. I believe that harsh words
were exchanged ... This kind of ranting against Paris has to stop. Paris does
not insult anybody. Paris does not call people names. She doesn't make false
accusations." And Mintz, who last month defended his catfight-prone
client after she was involved in a tussle with Shanna Moakler (this one also
supposedly involved drink-tossing and name-calling), reveals the healing has
already begun. "I am also pleased to inform you that last night
[Sunday], Lindsay and Paris had an amicable discussion about some of their
differences," the peacemaking publicist explains to MSN. "They left an
after-hours party together ... and Lindsay clarified her previous statement. It
is my hope that civility and truthfulness will put an end to any discord that
has been reported so frequently by others -- for reasons known best to
them." And his hopes were not unjustified. Around 5
a.m. on Monday morning, the paparazzi Holy Grail -- or Bermuda Triangle (your
call) -- appeared outside the Beverly Hills Hotel, as a smiling Paris, Lindsay
and Britney emerged together, wedged themselves into the front seat of the same
vehicle and zoomed off into tabloid infamy.
Pedestrians, consider yourselves warned.
And what of Lohan's j'accuse video moment? She once again appears to be in
denial as she headed back in front of the cameras to make the clarification
Mintz mentioned.
In footage of the threesome from Sunday, Hilton urges, "Lindsay, tell them
the truth," prompting Lohan to mumble to the assembled cameramen, "Paris never
hit me. She's my friend. Everyone lies about everything ... Please leave us
alone. We're friends ... She's a good girl. She's a nice person ... Please,
stop trying to make us hate each other."
Done and done. |
