Now that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have sealed their conspiracy-crammed coupling
with an oh-so-uncomfortable three-minute kiss, a few of the more, oh, let's say special
aspects of their Italian castle-set nuptials are emerging. Among them: People
reports the groom channeled his bygone "Top Gun" alter ego Maverick as he serenaded his bride --
sans wingman Goose, unfortunately -- with the Righteous Brothers classic "You've
Lost that Loving Feeling." While belting out an emotional tune about fading love
(sample lyric: "You never close your eyes any more/ When I kiss your lips/And
there's no tenderness like before/ In your fingertips ... It makes me just feel
like crying baby/ 'Cause baby, something beautiful's dying") might seem an odd
choice for a wedding reception, we suppose it's no more of a head-scratcher than
how Cruise appears ever-so-slightly taller than his far more statuesque wife in
their wedding photo. For those brave souls desperate for more details on
TomKat's understated knot-tying (come on, who doesn't cap off their
multimillion-dollar wedding with a fireworks display?), be sure to go here.
Renée Zellweger has reaped oodles of rewards from fame --
the accolades, the free couture, the soaring stacks of money -- and yet she's
convinced she was far more content when she was shoveling slop and slinging
drinks. "I did some work on a farm and in a bar -- they were the happiest times
in my life," the Oscar winner is quoted as saying (via the London Daily Mirror).
"I had no worries apart from serving tables." And Zellweger still seems to long
for those halcyon days when she didn't have to worry about how to invest the
mountain of moolah she's accumulated from toiling on a movie set. "When I first
went to Hollywood, I remember working for two years in a bar," she sighs. "I was
happy when all I had to worry about was the labels on the bottles."
Does Mulder know about this? Gillian Anderson is a mom for the second time,
welcoming a son -- Oscar -- with her British businessman boyfriend, Mark
Griffiths, on Nov. 1 in London, reports People. According to a manager for the
once and perhaps future Scully, the tot arrived three weeks early, but "both he
and Gillian are just fine." The Sunday Times says Oscar weighed in at 6 pounds,
8 ounces, and spent the last few weeks in intensive care. Anderson, 38, split
from journalist Julian Ozanne in April after sixteen months of marriage (for
those too lazy to do the math, Oscar arrived a little more than seven months
after they announced their breakup). She also has a 12-year-old daughter from
her brief marriage to former "X-Files" art director Clyde Klotz.
In other baby news, Tobey Maguire and fiancée Jennifer Meyer have
decided on a name for their new bundle of joy, who made her debut on Nov. 10,
and no, the Spidey-inspired Mary-Jane didn't make the cut. Us Weekly reports
they've dubbed their little girl Ruby, "because they treasure her like a jewel,"
explains a pal of jewelry designer Meyer, who adds, "And they also just like the
name." |
