John Mayer apparently doesn't scare easy. Two months after
the tabloids jumped the gun by anointing him Jessica Simpson's next great love (the embarrassed
ex-Mrs. Lachey later denied they were dating and canned her publicist), he's
braved the backlash by cozying up to her in a semi-public place. On Saturday
night, the facial contortion-prone pair looked thisclose as they dined
with pals at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, according to MSN's
eagle-eyed Dish Diva, who reports they appeared "blissed out with
each other." How blissed out? There was some food swapping and tender touching
involved. "They were eating off each other's plates," she tells us. "John rubbed
her back [and] Jessica had her hand on his thigh as they leaned into each other
and laughed." Adds a play-by-play providing spywitness to E!'s Mark Malkin, "She
totally had her head on his chest, and now they are canoodling." Meanwhile, a
mole tells Perez Hilton that Simpson and Mayer were seen that same night hanging
out at the Sunset Marquis Hotel, with insiders claiming they've been "rekindling
their friendship."

Is Teri Hatcher so hard up for a date that she's
resorting to her costar's sloppy seconds? Looks that way. The unlucky in love
"Desperate Housewives" star confirms to "Extra" that she's
"happily dating" director and sometime "General Hospital" butler Stephen Kay, the ex-boyfriend of Eva Longoria. The two were reportedly introduced by a
mutual friend. To her credit, Longoria, who dated the soul patch-sporting Kay
back in 2004, didn't react to the news in typical Wisteria Lane fashion, which
means she didn't burn down Teri's house or send Kay into a multi-episode coma.
Instead, her rep released a statement affirming that she and her basketball beau
Tony Parker "have never been happier together," and that she "wishes the same
happiness for Teri." Hatcher, who has 'fessed up to having a knack for picking
Mr. Wrong, was previously linked -- for about a millisecond back in March -- to
Ryan Seacrest.
Are "fundamental differences" just not enough to tear Jude Law and Sienna Miller asunder once and for all? The
annoyingly indecisive duo reportedly called it quits for the third -- and
supposedly final -- time last week, but now comes word they might soon rumble in
the jungle. The London Sun claims the fickle flames are planning to go on safari
in Kenya over the Christmas holidays -- with a few family and friends along for
the ride -- in an attempt to repair their rockier-than-the-Grand-Canyon
relationship. "Jude and Sienna feel they need to spend quality time together
away from London," a mole explains to the tab. "Their relationship has been
under so much pressure recently ... They want to spend some time together
without any attention from the outside world."
Chris Rock may be having second thoughts about being
"single and lonely" instead of "married and bored." The funnyman, who reportedly
started divorce proceedings against wife Malaak earlier this month, has been
seen with his missus at recent events in New York and Las Vegas. According to
TMZ.com, Rock has changed his mind about filing divorce papers, and adds that
the couple, who wed in 1996 and have two little girls, appear to be working out
their purported issues.
Did Josh Hartnett recently enjoy an innocent getaway with
a pal, or has his romance with Scarlett Johansson gone kerplooey?
Just days after rumors surfaced that the pretty pair had hit the skids, he was
spied over the weekend in Sydney with a "mystery woman," reports Australia's
Daily Telegraph. Hartnett, who has been shooting a movie in New Zealand, didn't
seem too happy to see the press as he and his female friend prepared to wing out
of town on Sunday. The paper quotes him as telling the shutterbugs stationed at
the airport to "get [bleeped]."
Abbie Cornish admits she hung out plenty with married
man Ryan Phillippe on the set of their forthcoming drama
"Stop Loss," but she insists it was all strictly platonic. "We were very good
friends and we did spend a lot of time together, yeah," the Australian starlet
tells Star (via the New York Daily News) of buddying up to Reese Witherspoon's now estranged hubby. "But we're
friends and that's it."
Has George Clooney found time in between his Sexiest Man
Alive duties to continue his alleged wooing of Tamara Mellon, the head of Jimmy
Choo shoes? While rumors have been bubbling for a few weeks, there's been little
evidence of a hot and heavy romance, which seems to have prompted a Mellon pal
with a sense of irony to go public about their need to keep things on the
down-low. "Tamara is really fond of George and worried that any publicity
surrounding their relationship will scare him off," the source helpfully
explains to the London Daily Mirror. "For that reason they are determined to
keep things under wraps." The debonair A-lister, who admits to People that he
doesn't "go on that many dates, because the truth is, anytime you go out in
public with a girl when you're well-known, there are pictures of you everywhere
and it's like you're a thing," has supposedly taken Mellon to his home in Lake
Como, Italy, and hung out with her in Los Angeles. |
