Tod Tidbits: Alba Enthuses Over Daughter's 'Explosive' Poop

Posted Nov. 17, 2008

Jessica Alba may have a reputation for looking glum in paparazzi pics, but she says life has been filled with nothing but joy -- and joyfully overflowing diapers -- since the arrival of daughter Honor in June. "Everything is cute, everything is fun, including the explosive diarrhea -- the best ever," the slimline, newly be-banged starlet quipped to People at the Keep a Child Alive benefit last week in New York. "She's the love of my life. The love is profound. She gives everything more meaning." As for Honor's latest milestone, Alba says, "I think she accidentally says 'Mama' when she's crying. But I don't know if it is on purpose yet."

Minnie Driver is still keeping the identity of 2-month-old son Henry's dad under wraps, but she's happily sharing details of the tot's grueling delivery and robust physique. The actress, who, like the aforementioned Alba, ditched the baby weight in no time flat, recalled on Friday's "Ellen DeGeneres Show" how Henry made his impressive 9 pounds, 12 ounces debut after two false starts and 25 hours of labor. "I've only just managed to look at the pictures of the birth," she acknowledged. "I only looked at a few pictures and they do make you sort of go, 'Owwww! Ohhhh!,' but then I look at him. I want another one of them." So strapping is the button-cute ankle-biter that he had trouble fitting into his Halloween costume -- and it was a roomy pumpkin. "On the back, there was just this huge triangle where his diaper showed because we couldn't close it," laughed Driver, who was presented with a pair of onesies -- one teeny and the other extra-husky -- that will likely be the subject of a few of Henry's future therapy sessions. They were emblazoned, "I may be BIG ... but my Mom is Minnie."

Reese Witherspoon has mastered the art of turning vague statements about her personal life into promotional tools. While stumping this weekend for "Four Christmases," her soon-to-be-released dysfunctional extended-family comedy with Vince Vaughn, the Oscar winner said she strives to make sure kids Ava, 9, and Deacon, 5, get quality holiday time with both parents. "I think the most important thing is to be a grownup, and not let any kind of feelings affect how you deal with your children," explains Witherspoon (via People), whose marriage to Ryan Phillippe went belly up two years ago. "I'm very lucky in that we raise our kids to just be happy. I think the most important thing is the children. What do they want, what makes them feel comfortable?" She explains that the key to accomplishing this is being "very open" with her ex and having "a lot of communication," none of which likely involves discussing her squeeze, Jake Gyllenhaal, or Phillippe's girlfriend, Abbie Cornish. Reese, 32, also reminisces about becoming a mom, revealing that before she gave birth, her experience with rug rats was extremely limited. "When I first held my baby, Ava, [that] was the first time I'd ever held a baby in my life," she admits. "So I understand that sort of fear or not being a good mom. It took me a long time to feel really comfortable in the role of being a mother."

A hearty "opa!" goes out to Nia Vardalos, who's revealed she's become a first-time mom. E! News reports the "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" star, 46, and her husband, Ian Gomez (best known as the irrepressible Javier from "Felicity"), adopted a little girl a few months back. Details are scarce to protect the family's privacy, but the new addition is a toddler who's under the age of 5. "They are going public now to bring attention to National Adoption Month and the 500,000 children in foster care," Vardalos' rep says in a statement, which points people toward AdoptUsKids.org. "Of these children, 129,000 are 'legally free' for adoption and waiting for a family."

Ben Stiller is embracing his brood's status quo. "They're incredible," he kvells to OK! of daughter Ella, 6, and son Quinlin, 3. "They're ridiculously cute at 6 and 3, and every moment is a joy and a wonderful challenge that people who have kids can only understand. It's the best." That said, "I'm happy where we're at right now," states Stiller, who's out promoting "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa." "Two is a handful. I feel very fortunate and blessed." Wife Christine Taylor concurs on the kiddie count, pronouncing, "Two is enough for now. Three's off." As for the best part of motherhood, the actress opines, "It's the most selfless thing ever, and it takes me out of all the craziness in my own head. I can put it on my children, and hopefully not put the crazy in them."
