Quickies: Will & Jada's Marriage Plan; Speidi Aim for McCain

Posted Oct. 23, 2008

Will Smith might want to brace himself for a performance review and PowerPoint presentation on how he is and isn't measuring up as a spouse. "I'm doing what you might call a business plan in my marriage right now," Jada Pinkett Smith explains to Cookie magazine. "I don't know why, but we all think these things are supposed to be in sync. You know, when you're in business, you figure out what your goals are and how you're going to get all that achieved, right?" According to the pragmatic actress, "The point is to clear out a lot of unnecessary stuff so we can find ways of being better together, because your relationship is either moving forward or it's dying." Interested in other famous couples who work well together? Check out these 15 functional -- for now, at least -- duos.

It's come to this. Not content with laughable photo ops with birthday cakes and aptly placed melons, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt descended to moronic new lows Wednesday in Los Angeles by posing as the Joe Six-Pack-spawned poster children for the John McCain-Sarah Palin presidential campaign. In the scariest sight since Tara Reid's butt-jiggling bikini outing last weekend, Pratt showed his support for the Republican ticket by carrying a shotgun and a six-pack of Budweiser, an always-ends-well combo that he accessorized with a T-shirt reading "Palin For VP: God, Guns, Glory." By his side, Montag squeezed her augmented assets into a "Read My Lipstick: Vote McCain-Palin" top as she flashed a copy of the tome "You Can Profit From a Monetary Crisis." No word on whether the paparazzo needed one bottle of Pepto or two in order to make it through conservative Speidi's not-so-candid photo shoot.

For those of you who are paying a small fortune to live in a cramped New York apartment, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes really don't feel your pain. The New York Post claims the now strangely lookalike lovebirds have snapped up several lofts in an East Village building over the last couple of months (Katie has been in town to make her tepidly received Broadway debut in "All My Sons"), with one apartment supposedly set aside solely for daughter Suri's enjoyment. "Tom and Katie now keep five units in the building," says a spy. "They turned one into Suri's playroom. One they use for a gym, and two apartments are for staff." According to the snitch, "They're all separate and on different floors. Tom is seen coming in and out all the time, and he's really friendly to everyone he meets. But Katie just kind of keeps her head down. Everyone in the neighborhood is buzzing about it." Cruise's rep, however, denies he's gone on a real estate spending spree.

In related news, Halle Berry's little girl will apparently have plenty of room to roam when she gets older. The newly proclaimed Sexiest Woman Alive and her Canadian model-beau Gabriel Aubry, who welcomed daughter Nahla in March, have plunked down about a million bucks for a house in St. Hippolyte, Quebec, according to Canada.com. The property reportedly comes with 63 acres of land and a view of Molson Lake. "It feels great," says Aubry. "Anything we can do in our own hometown is always a good feeling."

Victoria Beckham is willing to go to great lengths to grace the coveted cover of Vogue, including co-opting an entire culture. Posh poses for the Indian version of the style bible decked out in an ornate red-and-gold bridal sari. "I feel like an Indian princess!" bubbles the flatteringly long-locked Mrs. Beckham. "It's so me. This is real craftsmanship."
